The Grolier Poetry Book Shop is a Harvard Square landmark that’s stood in the service of verse for over 85 years. It’s the country’s oldest all-poetry book store and sort of shrine/haven/meet-up spot dedicated to everything beautiful and necessary that is poetry. Truly, it’s one of a kind. I’ve been lucky enough over the past year to not only have my debut chapbook Month of Sundays, added to the Grolier’s shelves, but to give a solo reading there as well. The staff and patrons have been an absolute pleasure and the experience has only deepened my love and respect for the shop. That’s why reading this piece on the uncertain future of the Grolier is particularly worrying.
Running a profitable brick and mortar indie book shop is a difficult task under circumstance, all the more so if you only sell poetry. The shop is up against a lot, no doubt. But still they continue to offer amazing art to the community. Check out their insane roster of upcoming readings for the fall. If you’re able I definitely urge you to visit, buy, donate and do whatever else you can to preserve the Grolier, it’s just too important to let slip away.
(My chapbook Month of Sundays is available at the Grolier, right at the register. It’s $2 and 100% of that goes to the shop).

Here’s a clip from my reading this past Thursday at the Grolier Poetry Book Shop in Cambridge, MA. The evening was a total blast and I was lucky to have such an amazing crowd come out to hear me read selections from my chapbook Month of Sundays, along with some brand-new work. I can’t thank the Grolier enough, both for selling my book these past few months and for allowing me the use of their historic building, an absolute landmark of American poetry.
Here I am talking about dogs, babies, and my feelings for both. From “The Super Great Baby Bouncing Business Bureau®” a poem in my book.

I’m damn psyched to announce that later this month (June 27th, 7pm to be exact) I’ll be giving a reading at The Grolier Poetry Book Shop in Harvard Sq. I could not be happier about the opportunity.
The Grolier, at just over 85 years old, is an undisputed landmark of American poetry and a Harvard Square icon. Over the last few months they’ve been gracious enough to sell and prominently display my debut poetry chapbook Month of Sundays. I’ve considered it an honor and I have been very pleased to have a relationship with such an amazing institution.
