I was thrilled to be featured on a recent episode of The Story Collider podcast where I talked about comedy, Crohn’s Disease, my guts, and the night I came closest to death. I’ve linked directly to the episode on The Story Collider site HERE but it’s available anywhere you get your podcasts. I hope you enjoy!

As I’ve started to discuss the fact that I have Crohn’s Disease on stage more frequently I’ve decided to offer some additional off-stage insight into what it’s like having this silly chronic illness. My motto has consistently been “Well, it could be worse…”
I recently prepped for my first colonoscopy in a few years. While the process is mercifully much MUCH less horrible than it used to be it’s still not the most delightful evening you’ll experience. Here’s me goofing off as I got ready. If you’ve got IBD/IBS or love someone who does you’ll know what’s up. Cheers!

If you’re going to get stuck with a chronic illness you could really do a lot worse than Crohn’s Disease. That said, it can sometimes be a total bastard. And on some days it will try to kill you. Here’s a story I told at the last area GrandSLAM from The Moth about one of those days (spoiler alert: things worked out!). I can laugh about it now and I hope you enjoy!

Yup. What the title says. I have Crohn’s Disease. One Friday a few years back I felt awful, did stand-up, ended up in ICU. I’m not quite sure I can say “worth it for the story” …but I’m glad I have the story. Told this at The Moth’s Dedication-themed StorySLAM last month.
I’ll be performing on their next GrandSLAM @ The Somerville Theatre on Weds. 3/30.
